The Dallas Cowboys have featured a frustrating running back situation in fantasy football this season. Rico Dowdle has been leading their committee approach for most weeks, with Dalvin Cook and Ezekiel Elliot also in the mix. The workload distribution has been inconsistent, so here's where their fantasy outlooks stand ahead of the Week 9 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.

Rico Dowdle has been the leading RB for the Dallas Cowboys this season, but he has only exceeded 10 carries in two of his six games so far. He has also only eclipsed 50 rushing yards once as the Cowboys' ground game has severely struggled this year.

One benefit to Dowdle's fantasy outlook has been his contributions as a receiver out of the backfield. He has 16 receptions for 131 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Ezekiel Elliot spent seven years with the Cowboys before joining the New England Patriots last season. He finished among the top 20 fantasy football RBs in all seven of those seasons and also had an RB32 finish with the Patriots last year despite being their backup.

Elliot's reunion with the Cowboys has been a disappointment as he ranks as just the RB54 overall entering Week 9. He has yet to exceed 10 carries in a single game and has a season-high of just 40 rushing yards.

Dalvin Cook fantasy outlook for Week 9

Dalvin Cook made his season debut for the Cowboys last week after spending most of the year on their practice squad. He had a relatively quiet performance, recording just seven touches for 22 scrimmage yards.

Cook previously finished among the top 15 fantasy football RBs in four consecutive seasons with the Minnesota Vikings before a disappointing RB75 finish with the New York Jets last year. He will look to bounce back in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons, although it's unclear what his role will be going forward.

Rico Dowdle or Ezekiel Elliot or Dalvin Cook: Who should I start in Week 9 fantasy football?

Who Should I Start
Who Should I Start

Rico Dowdle is the best Dallas RB to use in Week 9 fantasy football lineups when they face Atlanta. All three of their backs are expected to be involved in the offensive game plan, but his superior receiving projections are one of the biggest reasons he is the preferred pick over Ezekiel Elliot and Dalvin Cook.

Sportskeeda's Who Should I Start tool predicts that Dowdle will score three more fantasy points than Elliot and six more than Cook. He is the safest option, although all three carry dangerous weekly floors.
