Dallas Cowboys vs. San Francisco 49ers: Box score, player stats and summary (Source:GETTY)
The Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers resumed their storied rivalry on Sunday night. But unlike the past iterations that saw them competing for dominance in the NFC, they were now fighting for survival.

Dak Prescott had been underperforming ever since he became the NFL's highest-paid player at $60 million annually. Brock Purdy, meanwhile, had just lost top wideout Brandon Aiyuk for the season to ACL and MCL tears, while Christian McCaffrey was still out as he recovered from an ACL.
The game also marked the on-field return of four-time Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook, who was elevated from the practice squad after Rico Dowdle fell ill upon arriving at Levi's Stadium and had to be sidelined.

Cowboys-49ers game summary
Teh first quarter began slowly, with the only score being a field goal by Anders Carlson, who was making his debut for the 49ers. Later in the period, Ji'Ayir Brown intercepted Dak Prescott, but nothing came of the drive.
Then, in the second quarter, Ezekiel Elliott sprinted into the endzone for the first touchdown of the contest:

The 49ers then commited a turnover on downs on their drive, but safety Malik Mustapha contained tight ends Brevyn Spann-Ford and Jake Ferguson to limit the Cowboys to a Brandon Aubrey field goal, which Carlson answered with another of his own.
Both teams exchanged punts to end the first half.
The 49ers finally retook the lead on the opening drive of the second half via an Isaac Guerendo rushing touchdown:

Then, on the Cowboys’ first drive of the half, Deommodore Lenoir intercepted Prescott. It turned into a touchdown for George Kittle after officials determined that Chris Conley had not committed pass interference when he ran into double coverage.

And then they would force a punt and turn that into a Brock Purdy rushing touchdown.
In the fourth quarter, Prescott finally got his passing touchdown, finding a wide-open CeeDee Lamb. After Carlson hit a field goal to maintain the double-digit buffer, #88 struck again.
Then the Cowboys forced a change of possession, but their drive ended in a turnover on downs.
