Before the start of the 2023 season, the Houston Texans added free-agent tight end Dalton Schultz after he spent five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.
In his first season with the Texans in 2023, he had one of the best seasons of his career. He had 59 receptions for 635 yards and five touchdowns. He also had a career-high 10.8 yards per catch.
As a result of his success in 2023, the Texans rewarded Schultz with a three-year, $36 million contract extension.

In the Texans' season opener against the Indianapolis Colts, Schultz was sidelined with an ankle sprain.
The Texans were cautious with the veteran leading up to their Week 2 game against the Chicago Bears. He ended the game with two receptions for 21 yards on three targets.
As the Texans prepare to face the Minnesota Vikings this week, Schultz popped up on the team's Wednesday injury report. The Texans listed him as a limited participant with his ankle injury. There's no word on his status for Sunday, but the Texans are likely limiting him to reduce his activity before Sunday's game.
NFL 2024 Week 3: How to watch Texans vs. Vikings? TV schedule and live stream details
The Houston Texans and the Minnesota Vikings face off in Week 3 and this showdown has the potential to be the game of the week. While it isn't a big surprise that the Texans carry a 2-0 record into Week 3, the same can't be said about the Vikings, who are also 2-0 with a win over the defending NFC Champions, the San Francisco 49ers.
Sunday's game will take place at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota with kickoff slated for 1:00 p.m. ET.
As of right now, the Texans stand as a -2.5 road favorite. The over/under for points scored is 46.5.
A win is critical for each team, as the winner would boast an undefeated 3-0 record heading into Week 4. A win would also keep the winner at the top of their respective division.
If Houston loses, they'll still be in first place as the rest of the AFC South is 0-2 heading into Week 3. Minnesota would be in a potential tie for second place if they lose.
