Dalton Schultz wears jersey number 86 for the Houston Texans. Dalton Schultz is an American football tight end for the Houston Texans as of the 2024 NFL season. Hailing from Sandy in Utah, Schultz received a scholarship offer from Stanford University. However, he did not see any action in his true freshman season and remained redshirted throughout the year. In his redshirt freshman season, Dalton served as backup and barely saw any playing time. In 2016, finally a starter, Schultz showed signs of progress as he blocked for Christian McCaffrey and even earned a few honorable mentions for All-Pac-12 honors. Next year, he improved his numbers as a blocker, being named to the first team of his conference.

While a third-stringer for most of his rookie season, he was promoted to the primary backup due to injuries and was instrumental in helping Ezekiel Eliot lead the league in rushing. Unfortunately, he remained third on the depth chart for his sophomore campaign as well. After a Week 1 injury to Blake Jarwin to begin the 2020 season, Dalton finally became the starter. He exceeded all expectations as he recorded 63 receptions for over 600 yards, a mark accomplished by only three other Cowboy tight ends. The next season was a career year for him as he put up 808 yards and 8 touchdowns in 2021. However, he saw his production dip in the 2022 season. He signed with the Houston Texans in the 2023 offseason and recorded 635 receiving yards on 59 receptions. He inked a 3-year deal worth $36 million with the Texans in 2024.

After making his way to Houston Texans in 2023, Schultz went with the same number 86 on his back.

Schultz became a member of the Dallas Cowboys with the 137th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL draft. The first tight end to get drafted from that draft class was Hayden Hurst with the 25th overall pick. However, Schultz was the 10th Tight End of his draft class.
