Dameon Pierce has been a solid part of the Houston Texans offense since he entered the league. Pierce is a quick and shifty backfield threat capable of beating defenders in a variety of ways. He was a solid contributor in DeMeco Ryan's side as they made the playoffs last season.
Let's take a look at Pierce's potential availability for the Texans' Thursday Night Football game against the New York Jets.
Dameon Pierce injury status
According to CBS Sports, Dameon Pierce did not participate in Tuesday's training session. The Florida product missed his second straight practice session in the shortened week ahead of their showdown with the Jets.

The report states that Pierce is dealing with a knee injury which is rather bothersome considering his well-documented hamstring issues. Pierce must now make rapid progress on Wednesday or else he will likely not play against the Jets. If he's unavailable to feature, then fellow backup Dare Ogunbowale could be in line for extra reps behind RB1 Joe Mixon.
Other players dealing with injury issues on the Texans are wide receiver Stefon Diggs (knee and out for the season), offensive lineman Jarrett Patterson (concussion), safety Calen Bullock (shoulder), linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair (knee), and safety Jimmie Ward (groin).
How has Dameon Pierce performed this season?
Dameon Pierce has had a frustrating 2024 season. The veteran running back has dealt with injuries all year, and these issues have seen him record a stat line of 14 carries, 98 rushing yards and one touchdown in four games.
His best game this season was against the New England Patriots when he racked up a stat line of eight carries, 76 rushing yards and one touchdown. He also recorded his solitary catch for the season in the game.
Pierce will be ruing his luck with injuries as the Texans are having a phenomenal 2024. The franchise have recorded wins over the Indianapolis Colts (twice), Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots.
They will fancy their chances in the next few weeks with games against the Jets, Detroit Lions, Dallas Cowboys, Tennessee Titans and Jaguars before they embark on a bye in Week 14.
