Darnell Mooney has had two good games in straight fashion with the Atlanta Falcons, becoming a great complement to Drake London and Bijan Robinson on that offense. He has become an intriguing option for the waiver wire in leagues with deeper pockets.

Should you add Falcons WR Darnell Mooney in Week 4 Waiver Wire?

He amassed 154 receiving yards over the past two games, but his role on the offense isn't guaranteed to be massive every week. Mooney plays in a team where Robinson, London and Kyle Pitts are higher offensive focal points than him.

That's not to say he won't be getting any targets. He will feature as well as a good WR2 in Atlanta's offense – and with Pitts out of the picture for a while, some of the targets through the middle of the field could even go to him.

He might have a backup role on your team. But don't expect this to be a pickup that will be responsible for you winning your league.

Darnell Mooney's fantasy outlook for 2024 NFL season

With a team full of offensive stars, it's unlikely that he'll ascend to be a star at some point. He's a solid wide receiver who certainly has a place in the NFL, but the discussion about being a valuable fantasy option is not a real one.

In Atlanta's first game, he had a single reception over three targets. More games like these will be coming in the next few weeks, especially when the offense is full again. That's not the type of guy you want to start regularly, only in a few selected matchups.

Is Darnell Mooney a good waiver wire pickup in fantasy football?

His upside, at the end of the day, isn't very good. He's a solid receiver who'll earn some receptions but it's difficult to envision a scenario where he will explode in a given game.

He's not the best waiver wire pickup, but depending on who you'll have to start and who you have on your roster, there could be a role for him in one or two weeks. But nothing more than that.
