NFL teams are still acquiring talented players from other franchises during the trade season to increase their prospects of making the playoffs or, in some cases, even the Super Bowl.
The Kansas City Chiefs made a deal to obtain DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans on Wednesday, becoming the most recent franchise to agree to trade for a wide receiver, one week after the New York Jets got Davante Adams and the Buffalo Bills took Amari Cooper.
Here, we'll examine how well these trades benefit each of these teams.

Grading Davante Adams' trade to the Jets
Last Tuesday, the New York Jets executed a momentous trade for wide receiver Davante Adams, giving up a conditional third-round draft pick that, if certain requirements are satisfied, could turn into a second-round pick.
According to reports, Adams' remaining salary will be covered by the Jets. The 31-year-old receiver signed a five-year, $140 million contract with the Raiders in 2022, which includes a base salary of $35.64 million in 2025 and 2026. He is currently in the third season of that deal. However, Spotrac asserts that none of the money left in his deal is guaranteed.
In addition to gaining a conditional draft selection, the Raiders have managed to get rid of Adams' huge salary, so many would be in agreement that the team has done itself some good by trading him away.
It's clear that Adams won't solve all of New York's problems, but it's also obvious that the Jets are determined to succeed this season, as seen by their decision to dismiss former coach Robert Saleh about a week prior to the trade.
All things considered, the only silver lining of the trade for the Jets is the hope that Adams might improve quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the offense's overall effectiveness. Having said that, there's still no guarantee that his addition will make the team better altogether.

Grading Amari Cooper's trade to the Bills
The Buffalo Bills traded for wide receiver Amari Cooper and a 2025 sixth-round draft pick from the Cleveland Browns last week in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick and a 2026 seventh-round pick.
From the Buffalo Bills' point of view, having a player like Cooper in the offense makes sense. The team's passing offense is expected to improve with the addition of the dependable Cooper and his skill sets to the lineup.
Meanwhile, young pass-catchers like Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman can now carry less daunting responsibilities that may help them develop and flourish more suitably as they become more important parts of this offense.
In contrast to the Jets and Adams situation, the Bills will only reportedly pay the remaining $1.2 million of Cooper's salary. However, they would need to re-sign him if they intend to keep him after this season.

Grading DeAndre Hopkins' trade to the Chiefs
According to reports, the Tennessee Titans will get a fifth-round pick from the Kansas City Chiefs, which might yet turn into a fourth-round pick, in exchange for wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
The Chiefs have made a wise move by adding Hopkins, who will bolster the receiving department, which has already suffered injuries this season that have cost them Rashee Rice, Marquise Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster.
The Chiefs have also made relatively few sacrifices to improve their challenging wide receiver situation. Although he is no longer at his best, the 32-year-old WR is still a skilled route runner who may be able to unlock the struggling Patrick Mahomes.
Hopkins inked a two-year contract of $26 million with the Titans last offseason, and he is currently in the last year of that agreement. To finalize the deal, the Titans will be eating up a sizable portion of his $8 million base salary for this season, according to Spotrac.
