The Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery is in his fifth season in the NFL. He grew up in Cincinnati on a shifting lifestyle. He made his name when he broke 99 tackles in a season at college in 2018. In his four-year school career, he rushed 6,666 yards and 91 rushing touchdowns. Also, He was awarded the Southwest District Offensive Player of the Year and the Division III Ohio Player of the Year in 2015. The Cleveland Browns drafted Montgomery in the third round of the NFL Draft.

Montgomery signed a four-year, $4,015,380 contract with the Chicago Bears. It included a $1,046,180 signing bonus, a $1,046,180 guarantee, and an average salary of $1,003,845 per year. At the end of his rookie contract, Montgomery signed for the Detroit Lions on a three-year $18 million contract. Moreover, Montgomery is a strong running back who can break through tackles.

Montgomery was selected as one of the semi-finalists for the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award. In January 2023, Montgomery and his girlfriend gave birth to their first child, a son.

Montgomery attended Mt. Healthy Jr/Sr High School Middle and High School in Mount Healthy, Ohio. He is also an Eagle Scout from high school in addition to Division III Ohio Player of the Year. In his senior year, he had the best single-season performance in Ohio high school history. By having seven 200-yard and three 300-yard games, Montgomery registered a record-breaking high school career.

During his high school years, Montgomery attained the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America. His last endeavor focused on two establishments in Cincinnati. Procter & Gamble items were donated to the Mary Magdalen House through Montgomery's organization.

David Montgomery College

Montgomery committed to the Cyclones at Iowa State University. Although having a career-high senior year, Montgomery received very little interest from colleges looking to recruit him for college. Only Ball State, Iowa State, Miami (Ohio), and Buffalo recruited him.

As a freshman Montgomery played in all 12 games, starting for the final four of the season. He put up a worthy performance and it was the second-best freshman performance in school history. 2017 was Montgomery's breakthrough year. With 1,095 rush yards and 1,383 yards from scrimmage, he topped the Cyclones in both categories. Montgomery concluded the regular season with many awards. Pro Football Focus rated him a first-team All-American, and the Big 12 agreed that he was on the first team.
