Detroit Lions fans received terrific news about David Montgomery on Wednesday as the team gets ready to face the Washington Commanders in the divisional round of the 2024 NFL playoffs.
After going down with an MCL injury against the Buffalo Bills in Week 15, Montgomery sought multiple opinions to try to avoid undergoing surgery before the season ended.
The Lions found hope in a third specialist and the running back is on track to return to the field this weekend, completing a remarkable comeback story. NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported on Wednesday that the Lions veteran was a full participant in Wednesday's practice session and remains on track to take the field again on Saturday.

Lions could welcome defensive star after David Montgomery impressive return
The Detroit Lions are on a reverse trend when it comes to injuries and the NFL playoffs. The NFC No. 1 seed are getting David Montgomery back this weekend, but that's not the only star that could be returning to the lineup.
Defensive star Aidan Hutchinson, who was out before Montgomery went down, revealed on Taylor Lautner's "The Squeeze" podcast that he could be back before the 2024 NFL season ends.
"I'm on track for my goal of returning to the Super Bowl. And so, I keep telling all the boys when I see them in the facility, I'm like, 'You guys just gotta get there, and I promise you I'm gonna be back, you know? And I tell people that. My mom, I remember we were talking yesterday, she's like, 'But Aidan, what if you don't get back? What if you can't? I was like, 'There's no other way.'"
If the Lions make it to the Super Bowl with these two stars ready to go, their opponents will have a big problem on their hands.
