David Montgomery

David Montgomery is a professional American football player who plays as a running back for the Detroit Lions in the NFL, as of 2024. The Chicago Bears drafted Montgomery with the 73rd pick in the third round of the 2019 NFL draft. Montgomery finished his first season with 889 running yards and six rushing touchdowns, along with 25 catches for 185 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. He finished fifth in the NFL with 1,070 running yards during the 2020 season. His teammates placed him 98th on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2022 following the 2021 season. Montgomery signed a three-year contract with the Detroit Lions in 2023, and with two years left on his deal, he agreed to a two-year extension the following season.

Montgomery attended Iowa State University to play collegiate football. In 2016, Montgomery was named to the Freshman All-American. Montgomery was chosen for both the Big 12 first team and the first-team All-American the following season after leading the nation in forced missed tackles (104). By the end of the 2018 season, Montgomery had 13 rushing touchdowns and 1,216 running yards. Montgomery attended Mount Healthy High School for high school, where he played football.
