David Njoku played for the Miami Hurricanes during his collegiate career.

David Njoku is an American football player, playing at the tight end position for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League. Throughout his NFL career, he has showcased stellar performances, particularly during the 2023 campaign, where he recorded career-high statistics with 882 receiving yards, 81 receptions, and six touchdowns in all 16 games. His remarkable performance earned him his first Pro Bowl selection. By the end of the 2023 season, he played in 95 games, starting 66 of them, and had 287 receptions for 3,264 yards and 25 touchdowns. He has accumulated 255 receiving yards through the first ten weeks of the 2024 NFL season.

Njoku entered the 2017 NFL Draft, where he was selected as the 29th overall pick in the first round by the Browns. Throughout his NFL career, he has exclusively played for the Browns. His NFL journey has been plagued by injuries, however, he has displayed an undying passion for the game and succeeded in maintaining a position on the Browns’ active roster. In 2022, the Browns placed a franchise tag on Njoku and he subsequently signed a four-year contract extension with the team valued at $56.75 million.

Njoku hails from Cedar Grove, New Jersey. He was born in Cedar Grove on July 10, 1996, where he was raised along with his eight siblings. While growing up, he attended Cedar Grove High School, where he began playing high school football. He concluded his high school career with 19 touchdowns and recorded 76 receptions for 1,794 rushing yards, earning a three-star rating as a tight end. Beyond the football field, he also participated in the high jump during his high school years. Furthermore, as a senior in 2014, he won the national championship at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor.
