One of the best wide receivers in the NFL currently, DeAndre Hopkins has been a revelation of the position ever since he came into the league in 2013. While his play has seen a bit of a decline over the past few seasons, he still remains a valuable commodity around the league.
Hopkins got the nickname Nuk from his mother. Safe to say, that nickname became an accurate description of his speed on the field that has made him a nightmare to cover. While attending DW Daniel High School in Central, South Carolina, he played football, basketball and even ran track and field. For his collegiate career, Hopkins enrolled at Clemson University.
He immediately became a massive part of the offense. For the season, he was Clemson's leading receiver and also played seven basketball games in the 2010-11 season. His second year for the team take a major league while his play also got significantly better. The team won the ACC Championship against Virginia Tech before ultimately falling short in the Orange Bowl against West Virginia. Deandre is exceptional, leading the team to their first 11-win season since 1981. Eventually, he finished with one of the best receiving seasons in ACC history with a conference-best 1405 yards, while also recording 18 touchdowns, a school record. Going into the draft, he was regarded as one of the best wide receiver prospects.
With the 27th overall pick, the Houston Texans selected Hopkins. After a strong rookie season, in spite of poor quarterback play, Hawkins was named to the NFL All-Rookie team. However, it was in his 3rd season that Hopkins truly solidified himself as one of the best receivers in the game, earning Pro Bowl honors, while also being named to the second-team All-Pro.
After a regressive 2016 season, the Texans and Hopkins agreed to a five-year $81 million contract extension. HHawkins responded with career numbers, becoming the first player in franchise history to lead the league in receiving touchdowns for a single season. For his efforts, he was back in the Pro Bowl while also being named to the First-Team All-Pro. His phenomenal play continued over the following 2 seasons as he repeated those awards while even going at it with a torn ligament in his shoulder during the playoffs in 2018.
At the beginning of the 2020 season, the Texans traded Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals for draft compensation. The Texans were heavily scrutinized for their move as the general consensus was this, the Cardinals robbed the Texans. Soon after Hopkins and the Cardinal signed a two-year $54.5 million contract extension. During the season, Hopkins became the youngest player to reach 700 catches. His phenomenal play continued as he became the youngest player in NFL history to reach 10,000 receiving yards as well. In his very first season, he set a new franchise mark for a single season with 115 receptions while also being named to his 5th Pro Bowl. Injuries derailed his momentum in the 2021 season. His battler continued throughout the next season as well as he appeared in just nine games throughout the 2022 campaign. He was eventually released by the Cardinals and signed a two-year contract with the Tennessee Titans on July 24th, 2023.
What is DeAndre Hopkins’ Height?
DeAndre Hopkins has a recorded height of six feet one inch, or 1.85 meters. While slightly below the average height for a white receiver, it hasn’t derailed Hopkins's greatness. DeAndre Rashaun Hopkins was born on June 6th, 1992 in Clemson, South Carolina. He was given the nickname Nuk by his mother for constantly chewing through Nuk pacifiers. Perhaps, somewhere, she knew.
In spite of the relative disadvantage, that is, height would cause him. Deandre has been one of the premier receiving threats in the entire NFL since he entered the league. In that timeframe, he has become the youngest player to eclipse the 10,000 receiving yards mark.
