Dallas Cowboys star defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence is set to miss an extended period of time with a foot injury he suffered against the New York Giants on Thursday.
Lawrence's injury is even more worrying for the Cowboys as his fellow defensive teammate Micah Parsons also recently suffered an ankle injury that could see him on the sidelines for an extended period as well.
ESPN's Todd Archer reports that while Lawrence's return date is still unknown, it has been determined that his injury is a Lisfranc issue. He won't require surgery, which is good news because his bones weren't dislocated. However, he might miss four to eight weeks, and he'll probably be added to the injured reserve list.

The Athletic's Jon Machota reports that Parsons, who hasn't missed a game since joining the league in 2021, will presumably be sidelined for a few weeks, most likely until the Cowboys' Week 7 bye. However, Lawrence is anticipated to miss more time than Parsons.
The injury to Lawrence puts the Cowboys in a difficult situation, particularly as they get ready for a demanding run of games that begins on the road in Week 5 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Cowboys, who are currently 2-2 on the season, will now prepare to play without their top defensive player in games against the Steelers, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, and Atlanta Falcons. Lawrence could even miss more if he spends up to eight weeks on the sidelines.
The Cowboys will likely give more minutes to rookie defensive end Marshawn Kneeland and Chauncey Golston in defense in the absence of DeMarcus Lawrence.
DeMarcus Lawrence's injury report: What happened to the Dallas Cowboys DE?
DeMarcus Lawrence was injured early in the second half of the team's game against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium on Thursday. The star defensive end went down when he attempted to chase Giants QB Daniel Jones down, putting an uncomfortable landing on his right foot.
Lawrence exited the game and headed to the sidelines as soon as he was hurt. He was promptly declared unable to play the remainder of that game, which the Cowboys won, 20–15.
Lawrence had made two total tackles in the Week 4 game before he was hurt. In four games this season, he has racked up 14 total tackles and three sacks.
