This is excellent news for fantasy managers who are looking to pick the signal-caller in Week 9. However, it's better to be cautious and wait for Carr to get the active green light before drafting him in your team.
Carr suffered his oblique injury after taking a hit in the fourth quarter of the Saints' Week 5 defeat against the Kansas City Chiefs. He exited and did not return.
Carr was subsequently absent for New Orleans' next three games, all of which Spencer Rattler started as the team's quarterback. However, the Saints lost all three games with Rattler as their starter.
With Carr nearing a return, he will regain his QB1 spot for the Saints. It just depends on whether he will be ready to face the Panthers in Week 9.
Carr has played in five games this season and completed 90 of 128 passes for 989 yards, throwing eight touchdowns and four interceptions. He has also added 22 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown.
Carr's stats have earned him 71.8 fantasy points so far this season and he is averaging 14.4 points per game.
