Jared Goff and company have been nothing but dominant since 2023, when they both clinched their first NFC North title and reached the conference title game for the first time since the days of the legendary Barry Sanders.
Meanwhile, CJ Stroud was phenomenal as a rookie, leading his squad to his first AFC South title since Deshaun Watson's much-maligned self-destruction; and he has been maintaining the same energy in 2024.

Detroit Lions-Houston Texans game summary
The Lions began the game badly, as Jalen Pitre tipped a Jared Goff pass into the hands of Jimmie Ward. Joe Mixon then rushed for the touchdown to give the Texans the early lead.
More misery went the visitors' way, as they were forced to punt on their next drive. The hosts capitalized with a 34-yard field goal by Ka'imi Fairbairn.

The Lions finally got onboard in the second quarter via Sam LaPorta, who caught this touchdown:

But Fairbairn did not take long before hitting another field goal in response. He then hit his third after Denico Autry hit Goff from behind, allowing Henry To'oTo'o to steal the ball after a scuffle.
The next three drives ended in punts, before John Metchie III caught a late touchdown. The Lions tried a last-second drive, but Kamari Lassiter stole the pass to end the first half.
To begin the second half, both the Lions and Texans exchanged interceptions. After a punt, David Montgomery rushed for a touchdown but failed the two-pointer.

Both teams once again exchanged interceptions, then punts, to end the third quarter. Then, in the fourth quarter, Goff found LaPorta again for six.
The Lions then forced a punt, then tied the game with a Jake Bates field goal. Then they regained possession when Fairbairn missed a 58-yarder just after the two-minute warning and won the thing with a field goal at the buzzer.
