DeVonta Smith injury update: Latest on Eagles WR for Fantasy Football Week 6

DeVonta Smith is a key part of the Philadelphia Eagles offense. The Alabama Crimson Tide product is one half of a stellar one-two punch with A.J. Brown in Philly. The pair are regarded as a top-tier duo in today's NFL.

Let's take a look at Smith's latest injury update ahead of his side's Week 6 game against the Cleveland Browns.

DeVonta Smith's injury update

According to NFL insider Jake Rabadi, DeVonta Smith is expected to return to the Gridiron in a Week 6 game against the Cleveland Browns. Smith is expected to be joined by running mate A.J. Brown, who has dealt with injury issues of his own recently.

Smith missed the Eagles' Week 4 defeat against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because of a concussion. Smith got some extra time to recover due to the Eagles having a Week 5 bye. He'll now be expected to catch passes from Jalen Hurts in his side's upcoming game against the Cleveland Browns.

How has DeVonta Smith performed this season?

DeVonta Smith has been impressive so far in the 2024 NFL regular season. The speedy wideout has amassed a stat line of 21 catches, 219 receiving yards and a touchdown in three games. He recorded seven catches in each of the first three games of the season.

The Eagles clearly missed Smith in the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as Jalen Hurts was without his trusted WR2. Without Smith, the Eagles fell to 2-2 for the season, and the Buccaneers torched them.

At the end of the game, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said:

"We did not play well enough, and that is always going to start with me. If we go out there and lay an egg and we are down 24-0, that’s going to start on me."

The Eagles fan base will expect a much better showing against the Cleveland Browns. The Eagles will likely welcome back two important pieces to their offense, and Jalen Hurts will now have much more than Saquon Barkley and the run game to rely upon.
