Is DeVonta Smith a good fantasy pick in Week 16?
After two straight seasons of at least 1,000 yards, DeVonta Smith is set for his worst season yet thanks to injuries and the emergence of Saquon Barkley as the Philadelphia Eagles' primary offensive weapon. His latest game represented the first time he hit at least 100 yards.
As if that was not enough, Sportskeeda's WR31 also has a negative-yard game and corresponding sub-point performance – at the New York Giants (the Eagles still won though, thanks to Barkley and AJ Brown).
His next matchup is against the Washington Commanders, who since their initial defeat upgraded their secondary by trading for Marshon Lattimore. But even then, they are still barely in the top half of the anti-WR list, allowing 31.69 points.
Is Zay Flowers a good fantasy pick in Week 16?
Zay Flowers has come a long way. As a rookie starter, he breached 850 yards. Now, he is on the cusp of hitting a thousand for the first time in his career – an achievement that puts the wideout in Pro Bowl conversations.
The WR27 has also been efficient, winning even in games wherein he did not hit double-digit fantasy points. However, the Pittsburgh Steelers may have a way to stop him and the Baltimore Ravens.
Their secondary is decently stacked, boasting cornerbacks Joey Porter Jr., Donte Jackson and Beanie Bishop and safeties Minkah Fitzpatrick and DeShon Elliott – contributing to a 13th-best 31.54 points allowed per game.
Whom should I start between DeVonta Smith and Zay Flowers?
The result from Sportskeeda's Start/Sit Optimizer is still the same as the first: Flowers wins. He is the more prolific player and, despite stronger opposition, should still be expected to have a strong performance.
This is not to say that Smith is a bad player per se. He is capable of big performances, but this season seems to just not be it. Nevertheless, to say he is done being a top-tier player is a far-fetched notion.
