Cam Newton is an American footballer who played quarterback during his storied NFL career. The Auburn University alum is one of the greatest dual-threat quarterbacks in history. In addition, he is a pioneer of the do-it-yourself quarterback style that is so prominent in today's NFL landscape.

These days, Newton might be out of the league and doing everything asides from stepping on the Gridiron, but back in the day, Newton was one of the best college prospects ever to do it.

In 2010, Newton won the most prestigious college football award in the country, as he was announced the winner of the 2010 Heisman Trophy following his SEC Offensive Player of the Year and the AP Player of the year nod. Newton beat great competition from future NFL standouts like Andrew Luck, Colin Kaepernick, and Andy Dalton in one of the more stacked top 10s of all time.

Newton had a season for the books as a junior at Auburn University, with the future NFL MVP becoming the first double-transfer to win the Heisman and the first junior college transfer since Mike Rozier in 1983. He did it with style and grace, totaling a freak stat line of 2,589 yards and 28 touchdowns with just six picks while rushing for 1,409 yards and 20 scores as his side went undefeated and won the SEC championship.

Newton was undoubtedly the best player in the country, so it was no surprise when he declared for the NFL Draft and was selected as the first overall pick by the Carolina Panthers. In addition, he was named the 2011 NFL Rookie of the Year.

Cam Newton's career stats

Cam Newton was a gem in the Gridiron in his heyday, and it was super hard for defensive coordinators to create a plan that could take him out of the game. The reason was that he had a decent arm that threw 194 touchdown passes.

However, his true strength was on the ground. The quarterback was simply a quarterback with the skillset of a Pro Bowl running back. Cam Newton rushed for 5,628 yards, 75 rushing touchdowns, and lost a mere ten fumbles in 148 games throughout his 11-year NFL career.

At the time of writing, Cam Newton has a career stat line of 32,382 passing yards, 194 touchdown passes, and 123 interceptions in 148 games. He also has amassed 5,628 rushing yards and 75 touchdowns throughout his career.
