Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen were America's it couple for over a decade, and the superstar pairing was, simply put, one of the most coveted unions in pop culture. Throughout their relationship, the public saw little to believe that it wouldn't be happily ever after. However, on October 28, 2022, the couple announced that their divorce had been finalized, making both of them single for the first time in ages.

That's where we are right now, and for the past month, internet investigators have been trying to find out what went wrong. The blogs have been reporting, the tabloids are cooking, and the gossip sites are buzzing. However, one report has picked up steam over the past two weeks.

The report claims that Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen divorced because cryptocurrency giant FTX, a company that the former couple routinely championed, went bankrupt. Brady and Bundchen were the flagship couple of FTX, and they jointly invested much of their wealth in the cryptocurrency giants.

As such, a TikTok channel, Culturework, has claimed that the media hype surrounding their divorce could be a tactic to deflect away from their financial downfall. Also, it might be a captivating plot to protect their assets amid incoming lawsuits.

A word from a lawyer about the Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen FTX story

Lexie Rigden of Rigden Law LLC told celebrity blogger Nicki Swift:

"In divorce cases, the parties typically have to disclose all of their assets and liabilities and will have an agreement detailing who receives the assets and who is responsible for such liabilities."

Hence, the claims of divorce being a strategy to deflect would be strange, especially from two very successful professionals.

The learned attorney continued:

"So, divorce wouldn't be an excellent way to hide anything. A mere divorce would also not necessarily shield one or both parties from liability against third parties."

It wouldn't be a brilliant move from a legal perspective. However, it's hard to imagine that two people as successful as Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen would not consult with top-notch legal practitioners about such a sensitive decision.

How is Tom Brady performing this season?

Tom Brady has nothing left to prove in football, and the quarterback holds almost all quarterback records in the NFL. However, this season started in turmoil for TB12, with his marriage on the rocks and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers entering a new coaching dispensation.

As such, the quarterback hasn't put up the MVP-caliber numbers of last season, but he has been alright, too.

Tom Brady has put up a stat line of 2,805 passing yards, 12 throwing touchdowns, and two intercepted passes in ten games this season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
