The Minnesota Vikings are reportedly looking for a number one quarterback. They don’t have faith in Christian Ponder getting the job done. Ponder is still under contract.
Vikings running back Adrian Peterson believes that Michael Vick can get them to the playoffs. Vick has not played a full 16 game season since 2006, but he still wants to be a starting quarterback in the NFL.
I was reading this article on Yahoo! Sports titled “Free agency preview: MIchael Vick leads a mediocre class of NFL quarterbacks” by Anwar S. Richardson. And I think Richardson definitely nailed this one. Here is what he had to say about Vick:
“Even if Vick does not win a starting job, he is a great option for a coach if his starter struggles. For instance, Vick could back up the New York Jets’ Geno Smith, but take over if the second-year passer’s turnover problems resurface. Smith had 25 turnovers in 2013 (21 interceptions and four fumbles).”
I’m definitely a Michael Vick fan when he’s healthy. However, if you’re struggling to stay healthy with injuries, maybe you’re better as a backup quarterback.
