Michael Oher's NFL journey has been tremendously inspirational. Prior to his NFL career, he had to overcome adversity and difficulty and was featured in Michael Lewis's 2006 novel The Blind Side: The Evolution Of A Game.
The work so accurately represented Oher's life that a desire to direct a film was felt. In 2009, an inspirational sports film telling the tale of an adolescent Michael and how he became a great NFL player was released in theaters.
A Tennessee woman (Leigh Anne Tuohy) and her family adopted a homeless 17-year-old named Michael Oher. She oversaw his skills and cultivated his ability to play football, which earned him a spot at the University of Mississippi for Ole Miss.

Michael Oher timeline
Oher played linebacker in college and was named the First Team Freshman All-American in his freshman year. He finished his junior year as a member of the First Team All-Sec and was named the First Team All-American last year.
Oher had a good collegiate football career and graduated in 2009 with a degree in Criminal Justice. He was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft.
The player stayed with the Ravens for five years and won the Super Bowl in February 2013 against the Colin Kaepernick-led San Francisco 49ers.
Oher spent a year with the Tennessee Titans in 2014 before moving on to the Carolina Panthers for the next two seasons. He and the Panthers got another opportunity at a Super Bowl triumph in February 2016, but were beaten by the Denver Broncos 24-10.
Due to injuries, Oher only started three games in 2016 and was eventually released by the Panthers, therefore ending his NFL career.
