What draft pick was Isiah Pacheco?
Isiah Pacheco

When fans of the National Football League (NFL) talk about the game of American football and when the conversation centers around running backs, very few would take the name of Isiah Pacheco. Even though two-time SB champion Pacheco has only been in the league for two years, being on the Kansas City Chiefs team has put him under the spotlight from the get-go. Yet, as he tries to establish his identity in the league, there is little to no doubt that more and more fans will jump on his bandwagon sooner than later.

Having struggled with personal issues off the field for a long part of his life, Pacheco’s journey to the NFL is an inspiration if nothing else. It is this burning fire that he uses to propel himself every time he steps on the field.

Being a running back, the Super Bowl LVII and Super Bowl LVIII champion runs like there is no tomorrow and gets up promptly after taking a hit to send a message to his opposition that he is going to keep fighting. Passed upon by all the teams until the seventh round, Pacheco is on a mission to prove he has a place amongst the greats of football.

Isiah Pacheco Draft

Pacheco was a part of the 2022 NFL Draft. He was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the seventh round with the 251st overall pick. In a draft class that didn’t feature a top-level running back, the first one to be taken off the board was Breece Hall in the second round with pick number 36.

Not being one of the top running backs on the list for scouts and experts, Pacheco’s journey in the NFL has not gone unnoticed. His energy and never-give-up attitude on the field have helped the Chiefs tremendously in their run game despite being a pass-first team.

Other notable players from the 2022 NFL Draft include defensive end - Aidan Hutchinson, cornerback and defensive rookie of the year - Sauce Gardner, Mr. Irrelevant - quarterback, Brock Purdy, and more.

Isiah Pacheco College

Pacheco attended Rutgers University where he played football for four years on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights football team. Having put in some good performances for his football team at Vineland High School, Pacheco received offers from other Universities such as Syracuse, Maryland, Virginia Tech, and others.

However, Pacheco had two main reasons to attend Rutgers. Firstly, he wanted to stay loyal to his home state of New Jersey and secondly, he wanted to make it easier for his mother to attend his games by going somewhere closer to home.

Overall throughout his four years in college, Pacheco received consistent playing time although he didn’t put up astronomical numbers like other top running backs. Furthermore, his receiving game was not as developed as it is today in the NFL.
