There was a time when fantasy football managers could have picked between Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, but Drake Maye and Anthony Richardson will have to stand in and try to be counted when the Patriots host the Colts in Week 13 of the 2024 NFL season. The two marquee quarterbacks combined to give some of the greatest quarterback play that the league has ever seen and the two youngsters have big shoes to fill.
They are in similar situations. Both Drake Maye and Anthony Richardson were the third quarterbacks taken off the board in their respective drafts and have been tasked with revitalizing franchises that have fallen far off their glory days.
Drake Maye and the Patriots enter this week with a 3-9 record and all they are worried about is having a positive finish to the season. They will have to get weapons around the rookie next year if they are to have a chance of improving upon their current predicament.
Anthony Richardson and the Colts have a better 5-7 record. They are on the bubble to make the postseason but the margins for errors are fine with the Broncos occupying the final playoff spot two games ahead of them. This Week 13 game is one that they need to win to preserve and enhance their probability of playing beyond the regular season.

Is Drake Maye a good pick in Week 13?
Drake Maye has had his struggles as a rookie quarterback and it has not helped that he is playing behind an offensive line that looks nowhere near as strong as it should be. He was also not the starter when the season began but he has since taken over from veteran Jacoby Brissett.
He has 1,458 yards this season with a completion percentage of 65.5. He has 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions for the year and the concerning thing for fantasy football managers will be that he has five picks in his last four games. In that period, there was only one game where he had more touchdowns than turnovers and that was against the Rams. That was also the only time he passed for more than 250 yards in that stretch and had a passer rating of over 100.
Is Anthony Richardson a good pick in Week 13?
Anthony Richardson has had an uneven year, to put it politely. He began this year as the starter, struggled with injuries, and was benched for Joe Flacco before being brought in again. He has just 1,402 yards for the season with an abysmal completion percentage of 47.1. He has five passing touchdowns and seven interceptions for the year. However, the Colts quarterback has three rushing touchdowns compared to the one for Drake Maye.
In his last four games for Indianapolis, since he re-established himself in the team, he has thrown two touchdowns and one interception. In that period, he had a couple of games without a completed pass into the endzone, and only in one match, against the Jets, did he manage to exceed 50 percent in completion, 200 yards in total, and a passer above 65. Fantasy football owners should still consider Anthony Richardson, though, because of his rushing stats.
Whom should I start between Drake Maye and Anthony Richardson in Week 13?
With both quarterbacks struggling to recreate the aura of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, fantasy football managers face a tough choice of whom to pick between Drake Maye and Anthony Richardson when they go head-to-head in Week 13. Sportskeeda's Start/Sit Optimizer tool analyzes all the statistics and helps us make the pick.
Anthony Richardson looks to be a better choice than Drake Maye in Week 13. The Colts quarterback is expected to get fewer passing yards, touchdowns, and interceptions. But what tilts it away from the Patriots rookie is that his counterpart on the opposite side is expected to pick up more yards on the ground and score a rushing touchdown.
