Elijah Mitchell

The San Francisco 49ers running back Elijah I. Mitchell was born in May 2021. He grew up in Erath, Louisiana, with his four elder brothers. He was drafted in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Mitchell and the San Francisco 49ers agreed to a four-year, $3.6 million contract that included a guaranteed $183,568 and a signing bonus of $183,568. Mitchell made his debut in a road victory against the Detroit Lions. Mitchell broke the 49er’s franchise rushing record for a rookie in a single season.

He started in 10 games in his rookie regular season rushing 963 yards and five touchdowns. Mitchell was named in the injured reserve at the start of the 2022 season. He was back available in November but only managed to start one game all season. Mitchell has made 9 appearances in the 2023 season without starting any of them.

Mitchell has been through a patch of injuries in his career. He is a complete running back with enough athleticism and pace. Having the shifty footwork and game awareness, Mitchell can dodge tackles for extra yards. He also possesses the explosiveness to cover the yards quickly. Growing up with four brothers, he saw himself in competition from a young age. Mitchell stood out from the crowd as an athlete since a kid and bloomed in high school.

In his second campaign, he scored 13 touchdowns while rushing for 977 yards.

In the 2020 season, Mitchell led his team to victory in the last game dedicating it to their offensive line coach late Coach Looney who passed earlier that year.
