Colt McCoy was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He went on to sign a four-year contract worth $4.9 million. In 2013, he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers for the remaining year of his rookie contract.
He also played for Washington from 2014 until 2019, where he made about $17 million. He then signed a one-year deal with the New York Giants in 2020 worth $2.25 million.

Colt McCoy announced Monday that he is retiring from the NFL. The former Texas Longhorns standout played 13 seasons in the NFL after being drafted by the Cleveland Browns.
He didn't take a snap during the 2023 NFL season after he was released by the Arizona Cardinals at the end of training camp. He decided to focus on rehabilitating his elbow after undergoing surgery, with plans of possibly playing in 2024. However, that never came to fruition.
Monday's retirement announcement also came with news of the next chapter of his career. Colt McCoy will begin his broadcasting career with NBC Sports covering Big Ten Football. He will be a game analyst as well as part of the Big Ten College Countdown show from the NBC studios.
McCoy got his first taste of a broadcasting career in 2023 when he joined the USFL (United States Football League) broadcast, calling games on NBC.
Before his NFL career, McCoy was the winningest quarterback in college football history with 45 wins during his tenure with the Texas Longhorns. He was a four-year starter for the Longhorns and won the Walter Camp Award for Player of the Year in both 2008 and 2009. He was also a finalist for the Heisman trophy in 2009.
