As per Forbes, Tepper has a net worth of $21.3 billion as of 2024 and he ranks as the 39th richest American. He was worth $12 billion in 2019 and his value has increased over the past five years from being valued at $13 billion in 2020 to $15.8 billion in 2021 to $18.5 billion in 2022 and to $20.6 billion in 2023. Tepper's worth has grown by around $700 million from last year.

As per reports, David Tepper bought the Carolina Panthers for a whopping $2.275 billion from previous owner Jerry Richardson, who also founded the team in 1993.

Tepper attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned a BA in economics and graduated with honors. He then entered the finance industry and worked as a credit analyst in the treasury department for Equibank.

In 1980, Tepper joined Carnegie Mellon University's business school and earned a Master of Science in Industrial Administration (MSIA), now commonly known as an MBA. He then worked six months as a credit analyst at Goldman Sachs and moved up the company to become its head trader.

In 1993, Tepper founded Appaloosa Management, a hedge fund company that now has a reported $17 billion in assets under management.

Tepper, who is in his seventh year as the Panthers' owner, has not seen his team post a winning season in the NFL. At the time of writing, Carolina has a disastrous 32-72 record since he has been the owner.

The start of the 2024 season has also been a struggle for the Panthers, who are at the bottom of the NFC South with a 1-4 record after Week 5. Tepper will hope that his team can turn its fortunes in the coming weeks.
