Exploring NFL London Games' history: Where Jets vs Vikings play in Week 5. Imagn

Fans in the United Kingdom will have the luxury of attending three NFL London games this year, the first of which will kick off a little later today when the New York Jets take on the Minnesota Vikings.

Both the Jets and the Vikings head into this showdown on different wavelengths. The Vikings have admirably navigated through the shock of J.J. McCarthy's preseason injury with Kevin O'Connell marshaling this Vikings team (with a lot of help from Sam Darnold) to a spotless 4-0 start.

The Jets, meanwhile, have struggled to get things going. Their Week 1 defeat to the Christian McCaffrey-less San Francisco 49ers was quite a surprise but Week 4's loss to the Denver Broncos was a different story altogether.

As the Jets look to set things right against the Vikings today, here's a look at the results of the other NFL London games through the years.

NFL London Games' history explored

The first NFL London game kicked off live from Wembley Stadium in 2007 when the New York Giants faced the Miami Dolphins. The official attendance for that game was 81,176. Back then, Eli Manning marshaled the Giants to a 13-10 win as they rushed for 189 yards and a touchdown with Brandon Jacobs leading the rushing attack.

Since then, the NFL has hosted at least one game in London (mostly at Wembley). The Saints-Chargers game the very next year has been the highest-scoring one so far with the Saints picking up a 37-32 win in 2008 in front of 83,226 people.

There has been one shutout in the NFL London Games series which came in 2017 when Sean Payton's Saints beat the Dolphins 20-0.

There have been a total of 36 games in London. The Jets-Vikings matchup will be #37.

Over the last three games in London, the Ravens and the Jaguars (twice) have come out on top. The Jaguars will have a chance to extend that record when they take on the Chicago Bears next week at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the Patriots the week after at Wembley.
