Tight ends are one of the most challenging positions to navigate during each Fantasy Football season. Except for a few elite options, such as Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews, most tight ends have a dangerously low floor. This makes it essential for fantasy owners to pay attention to specific match-ups each week.
Starting the right tight end in a Fantasy Football lineup can sometimes be the difference between winning and losing. Week 7 has fewer solid options than usual, as Dallas Goedert, Tyler Higbee, Dawson Knox, and Irv Smith Jr. are all on a bye week.
Week 7 Fantasy Football Tight Ends: Start 'Em

Dalton Schultz - Dallas Cowboys vs. Detroit Lions

Dalton Schultz has been one of the most productive tight ends in the NFL over the last two seasons. He combined to record 1,423 yards on 193 targets in 2020 and 2021. The 2022 season has been different, with just 80 yards in four games.
The excellent news for Schultz is that Dak Prescott is scheduled to make his return in Week 7 for the Dallas Cowboys. He recorded 62 of his 80 yards this year in the one game Prescott started, as well as half of his total targets. The Detroit Lions allow the most points per game in the NFL, so it's a good week for Schultz to get back on track.
Evan Engram - Jacksonville Jaguars vs. New York Giants

Evan Engram played his entire career with the New York Giants before the start of the 2022 NFL season. He will now get his first opportunity to face off against his former team in Week 7 after joining the Jacksonville Jaguars during the offseason.
Engram has also increased his Fantasy Football in recent weeks. Over the last two weeks, he has recorded 11 of his 24 receptions this season while also accounting for two of his top three Fantasy Football point totals.
Hayden Hurst - Cincinnati Bengals vs. Atlanta Falcons

Like Evan Engram, Hayden Hurst will also get an opportunity at a revenge game in Week 7. He spent two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons before joining the Cincinnati Bengals and will face his former team for the first time.
Before struggling in Week 6 against the New Orleans Saints, Hurst put in solid Fantasy Football performances in consecutive games. He exceeded 11 PPR points in those two games, proving he can be a reliable target for Joe Burrow.
Week 7 Fantasy Football Tight Ends: Sit 'Em
Will Dissly - Seattle Seahawks vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Will Dissly is the definition of a touchdown-dependent player in Fantasy Football. He has failed to reach five targets or 50 yards in a single game this season. In the three games in which he recorded a touchdown, he exceeded 12 PPR fantasy points. In three in which he didn't, he scored four or fewer PPR points.
The lack of volume makes Dissly a boom-or-bust tight end. It's hard to trust him in Week 7 against the Los Angeles Chargers as he might draw coverage from Derwin James, one of the best coverage safeties in the NFL.
Pat Freiermuth - Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Miami Dolphins

Pat Freiermuth currently ranks in the top ten among all tight ends in fantasy points per game during the 2022 Fantasy Football season. While this would normally make him a confident starter, the Pittsburgh Steelers' change in quarterback has hurt his production so far.
Freiermuth spent most of the 2022 NFL season with Mitchell Rrubisky as his quarterback. In one game with Kenny Pickett, he recorded his fewest targets and yards in any game this year. Pickett is expected to start again in Week 7, making Freiermuth a risky option.
Tyler Conklin - New York Jets vs. Denver Broncos

Tyler Conklin emerged as a reliable Fantasy Football tight end in the early part of the 2022 NFL season. He exceeded five targets in each of his first four games, while exceeding 50 yards in three of them.
Conklin has almost completely disappeared in his last two games with the New York Jets. He has been targeted just three times for 17 total yards in the last two games. He can be benched or dropped in Fantasy Football until he proves he can reestablish a role for himself.
