Wide receivers are in the deepest overall position in fantasy football with more legitimate lineup options than in any other. This requires managers to carefully analyze all of their available options before narrowing down their list to the best weekly starters. Here are some of the best targets and fades for Week 9 of the 2024 season.
Fantasy Football Week 9 WRs Start 'Em picks
Josh Downs has been inconsistent during the 2024 fantasy football season with the Indianapolis Colts, but he has finished among the top 15 weekly wide receivers three times this year. All of those have come across his past five games, including a season-high WR4 finish last week. This makes him a strong wide receiver to target in Week 9 against the Minnesota Vikings' shaky pass defense.

Joining him as another solid option for lineups this week is Courtland Sutton, who has finished among the top 25 wide receivers in three of his past five games. He also set season-highs with eight receptions for 100 receiving yards last week and gets an extremely favorable matchup this week. The Baltimore Ravens are allowing the most passing yards per game this year to their opponents.

Fantasy Football Week 9 WRs Sit 'Em picks
Keenan Allen is having a massively disappointing 2024 fantasy football season in his first year with the Chicago Bears. With the exception of his season-best WR8 weekly finish, he has finished outside of the top 50 wide receivers in all of his other games this year. This makes him a clear fade against the Arizona Cardinals, despite playing in a favorable matchup.
He is joined by Tyler Lockett, who is also having a down year with the Seattle Seahawks this season. He has finished inside of the top 40 weekly wide receivers just twice in his eight games this year. Despite DK Metcalf not being expected to play in Week 9 and being listed as questionable, Lockett should still be avoided in starting lineups.
