Fletcher Cox is a professional American footballer who plays in the National Football League as a defensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles. His professional career in the NFL began in the year 2012 when he was selected by the Eagles in the first round of the NFL draft of 2012.

After being selected by the Eagles Cox signed a deal with them for four years. Cox performed brilliantly in his debut season he played 15 games in the entire season and he finished the entire season with 39 tackles, 5.5 sacks, four passes defended, and one forced fumble. Cox had a career-altering season in 2014 where he showcased fantastic performances all throughout the season and finished the season with career-high stats where he recorded 61 tackles, four sacks, one forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries. In the 2015 season in a match against the New Orleans Saints Cox recorded three sacks and two forced fumbles and due to his brilliant performance, he was named as the NFC Defensive Player of the Week. In 2016 Cox signed a new contract extension deal for six years with the Eagles worth $103 million.

In the Super Bowl LII where the Eagles defeated the New England Patriots in the following victory, Cox recorded one tackle and two quarterback hits. Due to his excellent performance in the 2017 season, he was named to his third Pro Bowl in a row. He was also ranked by his fellow team members at 69th in the list of Top Players of NFL 2018. Cox continued his excellent performance for the Eagles in the upcoming seasons where in the 2022 season Cox was released by the Eagles but was immediately re-signed just after two days he finished the following season of 2022 with seven sacks, 43 total tackles, and one forced fumble. In 2023 Cox signed another contract extension deal for one year with the Eagles worth $10 million.

Before his professional career began Cox used to play college football with the Mississippi State Bulldogs football team. In his junior year, he recorded 103 total tackles, including 11 sacks and two interceptions due to his brilliant performance he was named as an All-American by Pro Football Weekly in 2011. He finished his senior year with 104 total tackles, including 10 quarterback sacks, and also added one interception and a fumble recovery after having a successful college football career Cox announced that he would enter in the NFL draft of 2012.
