Malcolm Glazer had started out early at the age of 8 when he used to join his father at work where he would help him repair watches in Utica, New York.

However, upon his father's death in 1943, the time had come for 15-year-old Glazer to grow.

Giving up his education at the Sampson College in Rochester, he took over the charge of his father’s wholesale jewelry business in Rochester, N.Y at the tender age of 15, and all that is father left for the family was $300 in a cigar box.

Glazer later admitted, "Probably the most tragic thing in my life. But it was good in one way. It made me a man."

After working for a while at the at Sampson Air Force Base under negotiated concessions, real estate had gotten his attention.
