The New England Patriots' head coach Mike Vrabel took over from Jerod Mayo after a miserable 4–13 campaign. Setting up the team for success by providing quarterback Drake Maye with enough weapons is the new head coach's and the Patriots' top priority heading into the offseason.
Through the open market, the draft, and even trades, the Patriots will have a good chance of enhancing the roster ahead of next season. They can also expand their already substantial cap space by renegotiating contracts or cutting players they believe don't match their new strategy.
Additionally, the Patriots will need to make decisions on their prospective free agents, which includes some experienced professionals. In that light, let's find out which players on the team's roster are scheduled to enter free agency in March.

New England Patriots' impending free agents (selected players)
#1 - Cornerback Jonathan Jones (31 years old)
Jonathan Jones has been with the New England Patriots since he was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2016. Although he seems to have somewhat regressed at age 31, he is still a reliable cornerback in general and the team's defensive leader.
The Patriots may extend Jones' contract by one year given his past with the organization and the dearth of depth at cornerback. He can still be a valuable leader for another season even though he now lacks the pace to keep up with the younger guys.
#2 - Quarterback Jacoby Brissett (32 years old)
Drake Maye started his rookie season as a backup quarterback while Jacoby Brissett was the starter for the New England Patriots.
Brissett was eventually replaced as the starting quarterback in October by the 2024 No. 3 overall draft pick, and now, following a mostly ineffectual stay in New England, the veteran quarterback is expected to become a free agent in the 2025 offseason.
Brissett completed 59 percent of his throws in eight games and five starts in 2024, throwing for 826 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. It's unlikely that he will play in New England in 2025, but he still has value as a backup and will undoubtedly attract interest this summer.
#3 - Tight end Austin Hooper (30 years old)
The Pats signed Austin Hooper to a one-year contract last summer. Although he was quite dependable in the passing game in 2024, it is still uncertain if the organization will decide to re-sign him for the next campaign.
The Patriots will have the freedom to assess younger tight ends and possibly select another one in the draft if they re-sign Hooper for an extension, which would probably be for another one-year contract.
#4 - Defensive tackle Daniel Ekuale (31 years old)
Although Daniel Ekuale has been a reliable option as a defensive lineman for the Patriots, it is unlikely that he will get many suitors if he tests the free agency market.
However, his experience is valuable to the Patriots, and the team may decide to re-sign him on a short-term contract.
#5 - Running back JaMycal Hasty (28 years old)
JaMycal Hasty has had difficulty making an impression since joining the New England Patriots. Given that Terrell Jennings recently signed a contract for the upcoming season and Antonio Gibson and Rhamondre Stevenson are still contracted to the Patriots, it is unlikely that the organization will bring Hasty back for the 2025 campaign.
