Greg Dortch fantasy outlook: Should you start the Arizona Cardinals WR in Week 17?

Arizona Cardinals v Tennessee Titans
Greg Dortch fantasy outlook for Week 17

Greg Dortch is a twenty-four-year-old wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals and has been showing out in recent weeks. Dortch, signed by the Cardinals after a spell with the Carolina Panthers, has been a key component in the Cardinals' offense of late. This is a far cry from how he started the season, being way down the WR depth chart.

Due to numerous factors, such as injuries to key starters and elimination from playoff contention, Dortch has gotten his chance. The fourth-year pro is racking up stats without receiving passes from star quarterback Kyler Murray, who has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign.

We recommend that you start Greg Dortch in Week 17. Here's why:

Greg Dortch's fantasy outlook

Greg Dortch was a standout performer at Wake Forest University. He played many roles in college but wasn't lucky enough to be selected in the 2019 NFL Draft. However, Dortch impressed Carolina Panthers scouts enough to earn an undrafted free-agent contract.

He played two games with the Panthers as a returner before the side released him. He was out of the league for the entirety of the 2020 NFL season, during which he took the time to improve his skill set.

Before the 2021 NFL season, Dortch got another chance to make an NFL roster, and he took the chance with both hands. Hence, he was signed to play wide receiver and kick returner for the Arizona Cardinals. He has not looked back since.

In the Cardinals' Week 16 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he caught 10 of 11 targets for 98 yards and rushed thrice for 25 yards. Unfortunately, the game ended in an overtime loss for the Cardinals.

The Week 16 fixture was a career game for Dortch. His ten catches were a career-high, and he was by far Arizona's most impactful wideout. The fourth-year receiver has been bossing it lately on the Gridiron, and he could serve as a decent fantasy pick heading into the conclusion of the NFL regular season.

Star WR DeAndre Hopkins will miss Week 17, so Dortch should see his target volume increase. The Cardinals face the Atlanta Falcons in this game, a fixture that pits two underperforming sides against each other. This could be a boom or bust fixture for fantasy managers, and Greg Dortch could be a masterstroke. We predict that he will get at least 14 points and could get as many as 27.

If you have a top-tier WR you should start them instead, but if you are struggling due to an injury, Dortch could be the solution to your problem.

How is Greg Dortch performing this season?

Greg Dortch has had the best season of his young NFL career, showing that he deserves to be in this league. You can only imagine how good he'd be if he were the number-one slot receiver for a whole season.

Dortch has recorded 44 receptions, 422 receiving yards, and two touchdowns this season. Which is not bad considering he normally sees such a low number of targets.
