Gus Edwards' injury update seems to have relieved most of the concerns for the Baltimore Ravens. However, the running back is still listed as questionable to play against the New Orleans Saints on Monday.

What happened to Gus Edwards?

Edwards suffered a hamstring injury in Week 8 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and did not practice with the team this week. However, the good news is that his injury is not as serious as it was initially believed.

Reports claim that Edwards is likely to be sidelined for a short period of time and will be able to return to the field soon. The 27-year-old looked as sharp as ever in the two games that he has played this season.

Edwards had only just made a comeback following a serious knee injury. The running back missed the entirety of the 2021 NFL season due to an ACL tear. His return in Week 6 of the 2022 NFL season came as a big boost for Baltimore.

However, Edwards' participation in two games across five days for the Ravens may have led to him overworking his muscles. With JK Dobbins also out due to a knee injury, Kenyan Drake is expected to lead the backfield for Baltimore in Week 9.

Gus Edwards stats and fantasy outlook

Gus Edwards has managed 131 yards on 27 carries with two touchdowns this season. Both of his touchdowns came in the Week 6 win over the Cleveland Browns.

In just two games, Edwards has racked up 25.1 fantasy points. He is averaging an impressive 12.6 points per game. But we recommend that you don't pick him for your fantasy team this week as there is no guarantee that he will suit up for the Ravens.

Instead of Edwards, here are some of the in-form running backs that you can pick for Week 9:

  • Travis Etienne
  • Tyler Allgeier
  • David Montgomery
  • Raheem Mostert
  • A.J. Dillon
  • Dontrell Hilliard
  • Latavius Murray
  • Eno Benjamin
  • Kenyan Drake

These running backs will be suitable replacements for Edwards. All of them have been doing reasonably well for their respective teams and may benefit fantasy team owners.
