#1 - First Super Bowl rookie QB ever

Ad

Not only has a rookie quarterback never won a Super Bowl ring as a starter in NFL history, but not one has ever even started in the big game. The furthest any rookie quarterback has ever gone into the playoffs has been being eliminated in the conference championship game.

The most recent rookie quarterback to make it that far was Brock Purdy for the San Francisco 49ers before being defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2022 playoffs. If Jayden Daniels can win two more NFC games this year, he would be the first rookie quarterback starting a Super Bowl game, while having an opportunity to be the first to win a ring.

#2 - Rookie QB record for most playoff wins

The current rookie record in NFL history for the most playoff wins by a quarterback is two. That honor is currently shared by Brock Purdy, Mark Sanchez and Joe Flacco. All three of them were eliminated in their conference championship games and finished their rookie playoff appearnace with a 2-1 record.

With a potential victory over the Detroit Lions in the Divisional round this year, Jayden Daniels could join them as just the fourth rookie quarterback ever to win multiple games during the playoffs. If he was then able to win the conference championship game, he would stand alone as the individual record-holder for most playoff wins by a rookie quarterback.

#3 - Most passing TDs in playoffs by a rookie QB

Jayden Daniels threw two touchdown passes in his first playoff game, but if he does go on a deep run, he could break the rookie playoff record. Aaron Brooks is the current leader with six touchdown passes by a rookie in the playoffs, while six other have thrown three or more. Just two more touchdown passes would already move him into second-place, where Mark Sanchez currently sits with four.
