The New Orleans Saints are expected to release quarterback Jameis Winston. While the details of his release haven't been made public yet, according to Adam Schefter, Winston is "a likely salary-cap casualty."

The move comes after the Saints and Derek Carr, the free-agent quarterback, agreed on a four-year deal earlier this morning.

If the team were to release him before the start of the end of the new league year, they would only save $4.4 million against the cap this season. A post-June 1 release would save the team $12.8 million in cap space. The team will likely release him after June 1.
