Houston Texans injury report

The Houston Texans' lack of significant rushing threat was on show in their 24-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 4. The team might face the same fate in Week 5, as RB Joe Mixon has been ruled out for the game due to an ankle issue.

Additionally, Dameon Pierce (hamstring) is ruled questionable for the game, meaning that Cam Akers, the backup running back for the Texans, may have to carry more of the load in the backfield against the Bills.

Defensive lineman duo Jerry Hughes (hip) and Derek Barnett (shoulder) won't feature for the Texans, as they have both been declared out for the Week 5 showdown.

Below are all the other Texans' players that are carrying injury designations into Sunday's game:

LB Jake Hansen (back) - DNP on Friday - QUESTIONABLE

DT Kurt Hinish (calf) - Full practice on Friday - QUESTIONABLE

DE Dylan Horton (illness) - Full practice on Friday - QUESTIONABLE

WR Robert Woods (foot) - Limited practice on Friday - QUESTIONABLE

T Tytus Howard (hamstring) - DNP on Friday - QUESTIONABLE

Joe Mixon injury update

The Houston Texans will be without running back Joe Mixon, one of their best offensive players, for the third week straight.

Mixon missed every practice this week and is unavailable for the crucial Week 5 battle against the Buffalo Bills. He sustained an ankle injury in the Week 2 loss to the Chicago Bears.

Cam Akers and Dare Ogunbowale may need to take the reins once again in the backfield for the Texans, as running back Dameon Pierce is also questionable to play. Akers gained 53 yards on 13 rushes in the game against the Jaguars, while Ogunbowale delivered the game-winning rushing touchdown.

Tank Dell injury update

Wideout Tank Dell is expected to play in the Houston Texans' Week 5 matchup against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. He had a chest injury that kept him out of the team's victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, but on Friday, he was able to resume full practice participation.

Dell delivered five catches for 62 yards in the Texans' Week 3 defeat against the Minnesota Vikings before suffering an injury.

The Texans won 24–20 against the Jaguars in Week 4 thanks to the offensive tandem of Stefon Diggs and Nico Collins, as Dell was unable to play.
