The Indianapolis Colts are a franchise that currently plays in the AFC South division. This is a team with a rich history dating back to 1953. Prior to relocating to Indianapolis, the team was first founded in Baltimore, but it left the city in 1984. The team currently plays its home games at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Over the years the team has had mixed success as there have been sustained periods of both highs and lows. They are two-time Super Bowl champions having won in Super Bowls V and XLI under legendary quarterbacks Johnny Unitas and Peyton Manning.

Colts’ Mascot Blue

Blue is the anthropomorphic horse mascot of the Indianapolis Colts. He gets his name from his blue coat and white mane. Blue is a relatively new mascot that was first introduced in September 2006. Interestingly, it seems Blue provided the team with great fortune that year as in his first year itself the Colts went on to hoist the Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl XLI.

According to his backstory on the Colts website, Blue was born in the city of Jockey, Indiana. He attended Stable School and was an excellent athlete in various sports such as football, track, driving, wrestling and more.

Blue is also well known for his dance moves and his humor. He can be found at the Colts stadium roaming the sidelines and interacting with fans during the games. He wears the Colts 00 jersey which boasts of a big horseshoe at the front. The funniest thing for kids is that he also has two party horns that come out from his nostrils.

A few years ago Trey Mock who is the man inside Blue was interviewed to get his take on what is like being a mascot. Mock is a father of 2 from Hamilton County. Mock said he got into the mascot career because at first he just thought it was something fun to do approximately 18 years ago. What is more interesting is that the design and color combination of the mascot was also done by Trey himself.

When it comes to being Blue, Mock is literally a one-man show. He is even the one planning all of the skits and they have really worked wonders with the fans. In fact, Blue has won the Skit of the Year award three years in a row from 2017 to 2019. Moreover, Blue’s list of accomplishments doesn’t end there. He was also voted the Mascot of the Year in the awards' inaugural season in 2016. He again won the award in 2019 and most recently in 2023. He has also represented the Colts at two Pro Bowls in 2009 and 2011. Last but not least, Blue is the second NFL mascot to be inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame after the Kansas City Chiefs mascot, K.C. Wolf.
