It seems like an eternity since quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who marked his 41st birthday on Dec. 2, entered the league. With a game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, the seasoned signal-caller, who now has 499 NFL touchdowns, will aim to hit the 500-TD mark this week.

For Rodgers and the New York Jets, the achievement would come amid an unsuccessful campaign. The star quarterback carried high hopes into the season after recovering from an Achilles tear, but he has mostly struggled, and the Jets are now 4-11 with two games remaining.

Exploring Aaron Rodgers' availability status for Week 17

Aaron Rodgers will be the starting quarterback for the New York Jets once again in Week 17 against the Buffalo Bills. He will probably not be fully healthy on Sunday, though, given the news earlier this week that he has an MCL problem in his knee.

Rodgers' injury was initially disclosed by Jeff Ulbrich, but the interim head coach additionally said that his QB1 is expected to participate.

"If I'm a betting man, I'm betting on Aaron to play," Ulbrich declared during the week in a video conference.

The former Green Bay Packers quarterback was also optimistic about his chances of playing this week. "I'm going to play, and it feels good. I've had a lot worse," he said.

It will be important to pay attention to Rodgers' knee during the game, but he should be able to handle it well since he participated fully in the Jets' practices this week.

While the four-time MVP will play at Orchard Park today, the Jets have ruled out defensive lineman Leki Fotu (knee). The team also ruled nine players as "questionable," including WR Davante Adams (hip), CB Sauce Garder (hamstring), DL Haason Reddick ( neck), K Greg Zuerlein (left knee) and DL Quinnen Williams (hamstring).

However, Davante Adams intends to play with a hip issue and wants to be the one to assist Rodgers in recording his 500th career touchdown, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter's account on Saturday.

Has Aaron Rodgers performed well this season?

With Aaron Rodgers back and healthy, the New York Jets carried high hopes coming into the 2024 season, but both the team and the quarterback have fallen short, winning only four of their first 15 games.

Rodgers has completed 62.8% of his 530 pass attempts for 3,511 yards, 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 15 games so far this season.

Even though Rodgers hasn't had a very strong season overall, his recent statistical performance has led many to believe that he might remain in New York next season and even mentor a younger quarterback.

A-Rod has passed for 884 yards and four touchdowns in the last three games.
