Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets have arguably been the most disappointing story of the 2024 NFL season. The veteran quarterback was expected to have a stellar campaign, win the Comeback Player of the Year award and potentially lead the franchise to a deep run in the playoffs.
However, 16 games into the season, they are 4-12 and are playing under an interim head coach after owner Woody Johnson fired Robert Saleh after a 2-3 start. Rodgers has been underwhelming and has looked like a shadow of his past self. There are doubts about whether he would return to play in 2025.
That's a question that he'll answer in the offseason. For now, he's focused on capping off the season with a win.

Will Aaron Rodgers play in Week 18 vs. Dolphins?
Aaron Rodgers is healthy and will play in the Jets' season finale against the Dolphins at MetLife Stadium. The 41-year-old quarterback's name hasn't appeared on the injury list throughout the week, suggesting he's healthy and has been a full participant in practice throughout the week.
There were murmurs about the team potentially benching him for veteran Tyrod Taylor. However, that won't be the case. Rodgers will start the game against Miami and look to throw his 500th career touchdown pass.
Aaron Rodgers stats: How has Jets QB fared this season?
While he's scheduled to play on Sunday likely because he's close to becoming only the fifth quarterback to throw 500 touchdown passes, it wouldn't have come as a surprise had he been benched for Taylor for the game against the Dolphins.
Last week against the Buffalo Bills, Rodgers had the worst outing of his career. He finished with a quarterback rating of 1.2, the lowest since Davis Mills' 0.8 in Week 4 of the 2021 season. The 41-year-old completed only 12 of his 18 pass attempts for 112 yards with two interceptions.
In 16 games this season, Rodgers has thrown for 3,623 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 10 picks. His abysmal quarterback rating of 48.3 is the second-lowest of his career, beaten only by the 41.3 he finished with in his final season with the Green Bay Packers in 2022.
Sunday's game against the Dolphins is likely Rodgers' last with the Jets. His relationship with owner Woody Johnson has broken down and the front office is seemingly ready to move on from him in the offseason.
With no guarantees about whether any team would be interested in signing him or if he even wishes to continue playing, Week 18 could be Aaron Rodgers' NFL swansong.
