Could the Kansas City Chiefs lose offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy this off-season? Bieniemy's deal is currently up and he is free to sign anywhere and has had a lot of interest from the Washington Commanders.

Following the Chiefs' Super Bowl victory, he was finally able to meet and speak with the team in person and had dinner with head coach Ron Rivera.

He'll be back today in Ashburn visiting the team again and will continue talks with Rivera. If things go well today, the belief is Washington could have a new offensive coordinator today, leaving the Chiefs losing a vital piece to their offensive success.

Since the 2018 season, Bieneimy has led the Chiefs to a top-five offense every year and has won two Super Bowls with the team as offensive coordinator.

He is widely regarded as one of the best, if not the best, offensive coordinators in football, but has yet to be hired as a head coach. Every offseason, he is a top-five candidate to join a team looking for a new head coach. The Bengals, Dolphins, Jets, Buccaneers, Cardinals, Panthers, Browns, Giants, Falcons, Lions, Texans, Jaguars, Chargers, Eagles, Broncos, Saints, and Colts have all interviewed him.

Many wonder why Bieneimy would accept the same position on a mediocre team such as the Commanders. He will reportedly get full control of the offense and play-calling duties, something he shares with head coach Andy Reid in Kansas City.

The position would allow Bieniemy to really prove himself to succeed as a head coach, although you could argue he's already done enough to qualify to be a head coach.

If the Chiefs lose Eric Bieniemy to the Commanders, who could they replace him with?

It seems as if the Chiefs may lose Bieniemy to the Commanders.

If they do, they'll have to go through the process of figuring out who they will replace him with. A top choice could be somebody inside the building already.

Quarterback coach Matt Nagy should be one of the top choices. He was the team's offensive coordinator in 2016-2017 and helped convince the team to draft Patrick Mahomes.

He's had a ton of success as his coach and has also been a head coach with the Chicago Bears before rejoining the team again in 2022 as the quarterback coach and senior assistant.
