Quarterback Geno Smith and the Seattle Seahawks will take on the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night at Lumen Field at 8:15 p.m. ET. The Seahawks haven't defeated the Niners since 2021, so when Seattle hosts San Francisco today, its top players will need to perform at the highest level to keep the lead in the NFC West.

Geno Smith will be available for the Seahawks when they line up against the San Francisco 49ers at Lumen Field on Thursday night. The veteran quarterback didn't appear on the team's injury report this week, and as the QB1 he will play a crucial role.

Smith has staged a career turnaround with the Seahawks since taking over as the starting quarterback when Russell Wilson left the franchise. Smith has won Comeback Player of the Year, made two Pro Bowls, and guided Seattle to one postseason spot. He hasn't, however, yet triumphed over the 49ers.

Leading the Hawks to victory over the Niners would be a good way for Geno Smith to demonstrate that he really is their long-term quarterback. Smith has not won against San Francisco in four attempts, including playoffs, since 2022. He missed one of the Seahawks' two games against the 49ers last season due to a groin injury, and the team has now lost five straight against them.

Given that San Francisco has been mainly lackluster this season, Thursday night's game might be the ideal chance for Smith to make an impact against the 49ers' defense.

Geno Smith has also been in good form this season, leading the league after five games in passing yards (1,466), completions (143), and attempts (199). He also ranks fourth in the NFL with a completion percentage of 71.9%.

The San Francisco 49ers have won the NFC West division in each of the last two seasons, thrice in the last five, and have made it to the Super Bowl twice during that period. However, they run the possibility of finishing the week at the bottom of the divisional log if they fall to the Seahawks in Week 6, which will put them two games behind Seattle.

In addition, the Niners, who have already lost to the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams this campaign, would drop to 0-3 against NFC West opponents if they lose today.
