Is George Kittle playing tonight? 49ers TE's status revealed for Week 15 TNF clash vs. Rams - Source: Imagn

On Thursday night, the San Francisco 49ers will host the Los Angeles Rams at Levi's Stadium in what is a must-win game for them and their playoff hopes.

The 49ers are 6-7 and sit at the bottom of the NFC West standings. They trail division leaders, the Seattle Seahawks, by two games, and cannot afford to drop any of their remaining four matches if they harbor hopes of playing in the postseason.

San Francisco's offense holds the key to the team's success and their star players, like tight end George Kittle, will need to have a terrific outing against a Rams team that scored 44 against the Buffalo Bills last Sunday.

Is George Kittle playing vs. the Rams on TNF in Week 15?

A slew of the 49ers' offensive stars will miss the game due to injuries. Superstar Christian McCaffrey is out for the year with a PCL injury, backup running back Jordan Mason has a high ankle sprain and will miss the game, and left tackle Trent Williams' troublesome ankle injury will keep him sidelined.

George Kittle is healthy and will be available for the game against the Rams on Thursday Night Football. The veteran tight end missed two games last month with a hamstring injury and given how the season has transpired, there were concerns that it'd sideline him for an extended period.

Furthermore, his hamstring injury has seemingly fully healed as he wasn't even listed on the 49ers' injury report for Thursday's divisional battle against the Rams.

George Kittle's Stats: How has TE fared this season?

Like every player on the 49ers roster who hasn't suffered a serious injury, George Kittle has had an inconsistent campaign. He has caught only 56 catches for 800 yards and eight touchdowns in 11 games.

However, the veteran tight end is coming into the game on the back of his most prolific performance. In their Week 14 win over the Chicago Bears, he caught six passes for 151 yards. While he did not haul in any in the endzone, his stellar catch-and-runs set up easy scoring opportunities for his teammates.

Kittle's impact as a pass catcher and blocker is irreplaceable and the 49ers will need him to replicate his heroics from last Sunday to lead them to victory over the Rams and keep their hopes of earning a playoff berth alive.
