On Saturday, the Detroit Lions will host the Washington Commanders at Ford Field with a place in the NFC Championship Game at stake. The Divisional Round duel will be the Lions' first game in nearly a fortnight.

They earned a one-week break after beating the Minnesota Vikings in their regular-season finale and securing the No. 1 seed in the NFC. The bye week gave their players a well-deserved rest and their injured players, like running back David Montgomery, a chance to recuperate.

In his absence, sophomore star Jahmyr Gibbs has been exceptional as he ensured that the rushing attack did not miss the veteran. The increased workload may have been detrimental to his health but fortunately, that wasn't the case.

Jahmyr Gibbs injury update: Will the Lions RB play today vs. the Commanders?

The Lions have only six players on their final injury report, including David Montgomery. However, Jahmyr Gibbs' name is absent from the list, suggesting he's fully healthy and will suit up to play against the Commanders.

He will share the load with the veteran, who was a full participant in practice throughout the week. Detroit's rushing unit is back to full strength, which could spell trouble for Washington.

Jahmyr Gibbs stats: How has the RB fared this season?

Jahmyr Gibbs spent the first 14 games of the season as the backup running back behind David Montgomery, but still managed to notch up 1,047 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.

After the veteran suffered a knee injury in the Lions' Week 15 loss to the Buffalo Bills, the sophomore star slid into the starting role and had the best stretch of his career. In the final three regular season games, he rushed for 365 yards and five touchdowns.

Despite spending the majority of the season as the backup, Gibbs finished the season as the joint leader in rushing touchdowns with 16, alongside Baltimore Ravens' Derrick Henry and Bills' James Cook.

The 22-year-old has been splendid throughout the campaign and the Lions will hope he can bring the same form to the playoffs.
