Jalen Carter is likely to be a top-five draft pick in 2023. However, the Georgia Bulldogs defensive tackle recently grabbed headlines for all the wrong reasons.
According to reports, Carter has been charged with reckless driving and racing in connection with a crash that killed a teammate and a recruiting staff member earlier this year.
The incident took place on January 15, at approximately 2:45 AM in Downtown Athens while the Bulldogs were celebrating their second consecutive national championship. Reports suggest that Carter was present at the scene of the crash and later provided shifting accounts of the wreck to the police.
However, the Bulldogs star was present at the 2023 NFL Combine and took part in on-field drills on Friday. This was only a day after he spent 16 minutes between being booked and released from police custody in Athens.

As things stand, Carter will be eligible for selection in the 2023 NFL draft. Nonetheless, his arraignment hearing has been set for April 18.
Many believe that despite Carter's off-field issues, he will play in the NFL next season. Moreover, the 21-year-old has gone on to state that he’ll be fully exonerated when the truth is revealed.
