Is Jonathan Taylor playing today vs. Jaguars? Latest on Colts RB's status for Week 5

Jonathan Taylor is one of the best running backs in the NFL, but injuries have started to bother him. The Indianapolis Colts are coming off a surprising win against the 3-0 Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4 after losing starting quarterback Anthony Richardson in the first half of the game.

Richardson returned to practice today, but the picture might not be as promising for Taylor, one of the top talents in his position for several years now. Let's take a look at how Taylor's status ahead of Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jonathan Taylor injury report: What happened to Colts RB?

"Feeling pretty good,” he told reporters after Sunday's game. “We came out with the win, so I’m excited to attack this week.”

This week, however, Taylor was listed as DNP in the team's Wednesday and Thursday injury report. This is not a good sign ahead of the final injury report before the Jaguars matchup. Colts reporter Stephen Holder said the injury isn't serious, but there's uncertainty around Taylor's availability.

Is Jonathan Taylor playing this week vs. Jaguars?

Jonathan Taylor did not take part in Colts' practice session on Thursday, 3rd Oct. The running back was later ruled out for the Week 5 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jonathan Taylor is having a terrific start to this season

Despite being hampered by injuries in the past couple of years, Jonathan Taylor is still a powerhouse in the NFL. Having him off the field is massive for Indianapolis, but seeing his injury history, they might be better off not rushing Taylor's return.

In four games this season, he's racked up 72 carries (sixth in the league), for 349 rushing yards (fifth in the league) and four rushing touchdowns (fourth in the league). Facing a team they haven't beaten since 2014 at home without Anthony Richardson would be an uphill battle, but missing Taylor for this duel could make things worse for Shane Steichen's team.

In his absence, Trey Sermon could have a good day against the JAGS. He's considered the RB26 in Week 5 by ESPN, projected to get 14 carries for 56 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown as well as one reception for nine receiving yards and 11.32 fantasy points.

The Colts rank second in the AFC South division with two wins and two losses.
