Is Jordan Poyer leaving the Buffalo Bills in 2023?

Cincinnati Bengals v Buffalo Bills
Jordan Poyer #21 of the Buffalo Bills slaps hands with fans during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals at New Era Field on September 22, 2019 in Orchard Park, New York.

Buffalo Bills Pro Bowler Jordan Poyer might be leaving his team at the end of the season. The Bills' defensive lynchpin's contract will be up at the end of the season, and it's not looking pretty in the Bills' front office.

The Bills are currently playing a balancing act regarding cap room, and they will need to pay some free agents in the 2023 offseason. One of those players is Poyer. Unfortunately, he's one of the oldest among their free agents.

Poyer knows that the Bills' home game against the Cincinnati Bengals in the Divisional Round might be his last home game with the team. Ever the gentleman, the Oregon State University alum thanked the Bills Mafia via a heartfelt podcast episode. All things must come to an end, even the good ones. Poyer's time on the Bills might end soon, but he'd love to go out with a bang.

Jordan Poyer's Fantasy Outlook

Jordan Poyer is a starting safety on the Buffalo Bills and one of the better players at his safety position in the NFL. Poyer has the uncanny ability to affect the game without touching the ball. That's because, due to his tenacity, QBs are scared of throwing the ball to his side of the gridiron. As such, they force the ball to other well-marked positions.

Poyer had a decent 2022 NFL regular season, with the Oregon State alum helping the team to yet another playoff appearance.

Poyer is active in the battle of the heavyweights between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals. He has been dealing with a knee injury that caused him to miss the first two practices of the week, but he is expected to play a full complement of snaps tonight. Poyer is a DB1, despite the tough on-paper matchup against a Bills team limiting the position to the third-fewest fantasy points per game.

How is Jordan Poyer performing this season?

Jordan Poyer is having a typically effective 2022 - 2023 season for the Buffalo Bills. He has helped the Bills remain respectable at defense while being one of the league's leaders on offense.

Poyer is putting up a league stat line of 44 solo tackles, one forced fumble, and four interceptions for the season. Losing Jordan Poyer might be a tough pill for the Buffalo community, as the former Cleveland Browns star has truly grown close to the community. A couple of solid playoff performances would do the trick.
