On Sunday, the Los Angeles Chargers will go head-to-head against the Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High in an AFC West divisional battle. The Chargers last played 14 days ago against the Kansas City Chiefs and lost 17-10.
Despite the lengthy layoff, the Chargers have an extensive injury list. Running back Gus Edwards (ankle), cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. (shoulder) and defensive back Ja'Sir Taylor (fibula) won't suit up for the game against the Broncos.
Quarterback Justin Herbert is also yet to fully recover from an ankle injury that has been bothering him since Week 3. However, unlike the three aforementioned players, there are no concerns about him missing the game.
Will Justin Herbert play against Broncos today?
According to the Chargers' injury report, Justin Herbert was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday and Thursday due to his nagging ankle injury.

However, he was a full participant on Friday, suggesting the quarterback is healthy and will start against the Broncos on Sunday barring any unforeseen circumstances. His team not only needs him to play but also to deliver an excellent performance against a stellar defense.
Justin Herbert stats: QB's numbers have been underwhelming
Through the Chargers' first four games this season, their new-look offense under coach Jim Harbaugh hasn't relied much on Justin Herbert's elite passing ability. He has only 578 passing yards and five touchdowns this season and has yet to throw for over 200 passing yards in a game.
However, keeping Herbert contained rather than leaning into his reputation as a gunslinger and letting him try carrying the offense with his arm has ensured that the quarterback doesn't turn the ball over as much. He has only one interception in his first four outings this season.
The change in philosophy has yielded mixed results so far. The Chargers are 2-2 and rank 28th in the league in points per game. It's not the kind of production that they have been known for since Herbert took over as the starting quarterback in his rookie season in 2020.
Harbaugh seemingly believes it's the best way forward for the franchise, and it remains to be seen whether it pays off or if the Chargers will ask the 26-year-old to take matters into his own hands.
