The Minnesota Vikings announced on Friday that Justin Jefferson will play in Week 3 against the Houston Texans. The news came after the star receiver practiced on Friday without any limitations.

Following yesterday's practice, coach Kevin O'Connell said about Jefferson:

“He has done a good job of being present, engaged and having ownership of the plan. He got great work in today, and I think he feels ready to roll.”

After Jefferson practiced in a limited capacity for the second straight day out of caution on Thursday, questions regarding his availability surfaced. He got into a collision with linebacker Fred Warner in the third quarter of the Week 2 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, but the former LSU receiver claimed he "feels great" when asked about the injury.

Jefferson, who won the 2022 AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year, was sidelined for seven games during the 2023 season by a severe hamstring strain. However, he assured fans that he would play in Week 3.

In response to a question on Thursday about whether he will play against the Texans, Justin Jefferson replied, "Oh yeah, for sure.”

Jefferson will play on Sunday, but he won't be joined in the game by his best wideout comrade, Jordan Addison, because of an ankle injury.

Addison, who hurt his ankle in the Week 1 game against the New York Giants, did not practice on Thursday and has now been ruled out of the game against C.J. Stroud and the Texans on Sunday.

Linebacker duo Dallas Turner and Ivan Pace Jr. have also been ruled out for the game. Turner did not practice this week because he's dealing with an ankle problem. Pace (quad/ankle) was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday before he was downgraded to a non-participant in Friday’s practice.

Justin Jefferson's injury update: What happened to the Vikings WR?

Justin Jefferson had to leave last Sunday's victory over the San Francisco 49ers with an injured quad after colliding with Fred Warner. The receiver said on Thursday that he was not supposed to be near Warner and that he had missed his duty.

"I was supposed to stay on the corner and pretty much run him off," Jefferson said. "I've just got to make sure I'm aware of my rules.”

Before leaving the game last week, Jefferson had four receptions for 133 yards, including a spectacular 97-yard touchdown catch.

Justin Jefferson was considered day-to-day after being limited in practice until he logged full participation on Friday.

This season, the perennial Pro Bowler has eight receptions for 192 yards and two touchdowns in two games.
