Kirk Cousins has been in the spotlight since signing for the Atlanta Falcons this offseason. The veteran quarterback hasn't played in both of Atlanta's preseason games thus far. However, some are wondering whether Cousins will make his debut for the Falcons in their preseason finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars later on Friday.

As things stand, Kirk Cousins isn't expected to play against the Jaguars on Friday (per as.com). The quarterback is listed as active on the Falcons roster but it would be a surprise if coach Raheem Morris played the four-time Pro Bowler.
While playing for the Minnesota Vikings last season, Cousins tore his Achilles tendon in a Week 8 game against the Green Bay Packers. He was ruled out for the remainder of the season.
Now, it appears that the Falcons are not keen on risking Cousins in the preseason. He didn't play in Atlanta's preseason opener against the Miami Dolphins and sat out the game against the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday. Cousins is also expected to sit out the Falcons preseason finale against the Jaguars.
Cousins' backup Michael Penix Jr. will also not play against Jacksonville on Friday. Hence, Taylor Heinicke and Nathan Rourke are expected to share the snaps against the Jaguars.
Nonetheless, Cousins is the Falcons' QB1 and is expected to start in the team's regular-season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 8.
